About Shahira

Dr. Shahira Boulos received her medical degree in 1986. With a surgical background, Dr. Boulos has been administering cosmetic injections since 2007. She has successfully built upon this experience with further training in Aesthetic Medicine and has attended various conferences, where interaction with her peers continues to keep her education current.

Dr. Boulos teaches at different Beauty Colleges around the GTA, and at our own Medical Spa in Newmarket on the use and application of injectables and laser therapies. Dr. Boulos finds this aspect of medicine extremely rewarding earance.

As a female, she understands many concerns that females of all ages have including but not limited to aging, skin care and other medical concerns. Dr. Boulos believes that her mission is to apply her medical education and expertise to all her clients’ questions and concerns. What is BOTOX?
BOTOX® or onabotulinumtoxinA is a purified protein derived from botulinum bacteria. When injected into muscles it blocks the nerve impulses that cause muscle contractions. When the muscles stop moving the expression lines and wrinkles they cause soften and in many cases disappear.

Will I look older after BOTOX® wears off?
No, in fact the opposite is true. Regular BOTOX® use helps to prevent wrinkles and retrains the muscles to remain in a relaxed state. If you’ve only done BOTOX® once or twice then discontinuing treatments won’t have any long-term effects and you face will return to its previous condition.

What is the right age to start BOTOX®?
Research shows that BOTOX® has a preventative effect. Therefore if delaying the signs of aging is important to you then you may want to consult with a qualitifed BOTOX® injector to see if BOTOX® is right for you at this time.

How often should I do BOTOX®?
The frequency of your BOTOX® injections is very individualized and can vary. Often at the beginning you’ll need to have maintenance treatments every 3-4 months. Over time, the frequency of your visits and quantity may decrease.

How long will BOTOX® last?
It varies from person to person. For most patients BOTOX® can last anywhere from 3-4 month as long as the correct dosage is injected. After the first year of regular BOTOX® use it’s possible that you may require slightly less BOTOX® units.
